The birth of Nana Momo Makes
In 2013 after the birth of my son, Doogie, I asked my mum to join me at a sewing class. As well as a chance to learn something new, I thought it would be a lovely way for us to spend time together. And, to be honest, at that stage it was great to even just get out of the house for a few hours each week!
Four years on and not only have we added to the family, we have grown Nana Momo Makes.
We’ve come along way since then, meeting lots of wonderful customers who have become friends, selling our wares at Gala Days, Festivals and events and having a number of fantastic stockists. It feels like only yesterday when we were excitedly attending our first craft fair – we didn’t have a clue what we were doing and didn’t sell a thing!
One thing hasn’t changed, you, our lovely customers. You’ve been on this journey with us, we have seen your children grow with ours and we are grateful to each and every one of you. Because of your wonderful suggestions and constant support we have been able to listen to you and give you the products and services that you’ve asked for.
It’s so exciting for us to see you learning to sew for yourself, just like we did, and being able to dress your little one’s using our fabrics and patterns. Teaching the kids to get crafty has been one of biggest highlights and we are so pleased to be able to offer the monthly crafty club.
In some ways, however, this is just the beginning of our story. We’ve got lots of plans for our little company and can’t wait to share them with you. So watch this space!
Oh and I should probably explain why we’re called Nana Momo Makes… None of the children in the family have been able to pronounce Morag (mum’s name) properly so Momo stuck, pretty much everyone we know calls her that and the boys call her Nanny Momo. Cute eh?
